BAR EXAM RESULTS 2024: List of Passers and Topnotchers

MANILA, Philippines – The Bar Exam Results 2024, including the list of passers and top examinees to over 10,000 aspiring lawyers, are expected to be released by the Supreme Court of the Philippines (SC) two (2) to (3) months after the last day of exams.

Originally, there were 12,246, but during the first day of exams, only 10,483 showed up to take the bar exams.

The 2024 bar examinations were held on September 8, 11, and 15, 2024 and is headed by the Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, Chairperson of the 2024 Bar Examinations Committee.

Release of Results

Referring to the previous releases of bar exam results, it is expected to be released by November to December 2024, 2-3 months after the exams. The exact and official date will be posted here once the Supreme Court Public Information Office posted the date.

Before officially posting results, SC is conducting a special en banc session to decode the bar exam results. This is the process of opening the sealed envelopes with the names of passers.

The list of passers will also be posted on the SC’s official website and flashed via widescreen at the Supreme Court’s front yard. You may also refer to this article, as we will post the names of successful examinees.

SC conducted the exams through Examplify, a secure examination delivery program in which examinees will use their devices in their preferred venue, monitored by in-person proctors and closed-circuit television cameras in exam rooms.

How many examinees took the Bar Exams 2024?

As per SC, 12,246 aspiring lawyers are expected to take the exams, 5,234 are first-timers, and the rest are re-takers. Below is the turnout of examinees in the 3-day grueling exams:

Passing Percentage of Bar Exams 2024

To pass the Bar exams, an examinee must have a general average of 75% and no grade lower than 50% in any subject. While this is typical, SC En Banc may also adjust and lower the passing percentage.

In 2012, the passing percentage was lowered to 70%, while in the 2013 and 2014 bar exams, it was likewise reduced to 73%.

During the September 2023 bar exams, 3,812 out of 10,387 (36.77%) examinees passed. Ephraim Porciuncula Bie from the University of Santo Tomas ranked first in the exams, with 89.2625%, followed by Mark Josel Padua Vivit from Ateneo de Manila University, having 89.1250%.

About Bar Exams

The Philippine Bar examination is an annual licensure exam conducted by the Supreme Court of the Philippines through the SC’s Bar Exam Committee. This is the only licensure exam for professionals not regulated by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

The September 2024 Bar exams are the 122nd licensure exams for all aspiring lawyers.

Candidates who have failed three times in the bar exam are not permitted to retake it unless they re-enroll, pass the regular fourth-year review classes, and attend a pre-bar review course in an approved school.
